Planet X Challenge is a multidisciplinary contest that aims to contribute to building robust and well-connected experts in space, aerospace and advanced technologies. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to design, build and programme systems for deep space exploration. As part of the contest, youth and startups who are interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, will get the opportunity to engage in the Emirates Mission to the Asteroid Belt.
Planet X Challenge encourages and nurtures a space culture of innovation to generate interest within industrial, academic and research domains. It is divided into 3 categories as follows:
UAE Mini Satellite Challenge provides the opportunity for students interested in the fields of engineering, material sciences and physical sciences, to develop technology applications and experiments that are exposed to the space environment and have a clear view of Earth and the universe.
The winning team will test their technology on a 2U CubeSat platform deployed from the International Space Station. The challenge targets undergraduate and graduate students.
UAE Mini Satellite Challenge is a STEM-oriented contest devised by the UAE Space Agency in collaboration with Khalifa University.
Kibo Robot Programming Challenge (Kibo-RPC) is an educational competition about creating a programme to operate free-flying robots in the International Space Station (ISS).
Students from all over the UAE are invited to take part in this international challenge, organised by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), in cooperation with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
