National Programme to Transform Technology
The ‘National Programme to Transform Technology’ aims to boost the pace of the technological transformation of the UAE’s industrial and production sector. Key objectives of the programme are to develop 1,000 technological projects by 2031, nurture Emirati talent across advanced technology projects, contribute AED 110 billion to the Net Domestic Product (NDP) and others.
The ‘National Programme to Transform Technology’ aims to boost the pace of the technological transformation of the UAE’s industrial and production sector. The programme is in line with Operation 300bn, the UAE’s Industrial strategy to strengthen the sector’s local and global competitiveness and sustainability, and accelerate digital transformation.
It is also in line with the UAE’s national priorities to build a competitive economy, based on knowledge innovation, achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and enhance the UAE’s status as a global hub for science and technology.
Key objectives
The programme aims to:
- develop 1,000 technological projects by 2031
- nurture Emirati talent across advanced technology projects
- enable technology developers, entrepreneurs and emerging technology companies to experiment with technology in the UAE and launch global transformational projects with a tangible impact
- invest AED 11 billion in advanced technology
- contribute AED 110 billion to the Net Domestic Product (NDP)
- enable AED 15 billion worth of advanced Emirati technological products to be exported annually.
The programme will be implemented through the launch of the following 5 initiatives:
- ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution Index’ - the first of its kind to measure the readiness of the industrial sector
- Industrial enablement centres - to accelerate the adoption of modern technology in the sector
- Advanced technology incentives – a variety of funding solutions for manufacturers to enable adoption of advanced technology
- Future Factory Award - to honour the industrial enterprises for adopting advanced technology
- Experimental ecosystem for testing advanced technology - a platform to test and experiment new technologies.
