The IMD World Digital Competitiveness (WDC) ranking analyses and ranks the extent to which countries adopt and explore digital technologies leading to transformation in government practices, business models and society in general. According to IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking 2022 report, the United Arab Emirates was ranked 13th amongst 63 countries reviewed globally.
According to IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking 2022 report (PDF, 1 MB) the United Arab Emirates was ranked 13th amongst 63 countries reviewed globally, and 7th amongst 40 countries in the European and MENA group.
It was ranked 3rd in the factor relating to technology.
Its rank in the sub-factors is as follows:
- 1st in talent
- 3rd in regulatory framework
- 3rd in technological framework
- 10th in capital.
Methodology
The IMD World Digital Competitiveness (WDC) ranking analyses and ranks the extent to which countries adopt and explore digital technologies leading to transformation in government practices, business models and society in general.
The methodology of the WDC ranking defines digital competitiveness into three main factors:
- knowledge
- technology
- future readiness.
Each of these factors is divided into 3 sub-factors which highlight every facet of the areas analysed. These 9 sub-factors comprise 54 criteria. Each sub-factor, regardless of the number of criteria it contains, has the same weight in the overall consolidation of results.
