In line with the wise leadership's directions of the United Arab Emirates in the field of sustainability, and its efforts in combating climate change and preserving the environment, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, in cooperation with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, launched the Blue Residency initiative as the first long-term residency for 10 years that enhances the UAE's leading position in the field of sustainability.

The Blue Residency targets attracting individuals with exceptional contributions and efforts in the fields of environmental protection, sustainability, and clean and renewable energy from inside and outside the country.

This residency is granted to four categories: scientists and researchers; distinguished influencers; investors and entrepreneurs with high achievements and impact in the fields of environment, climate change, sustainability, and clean and renewable energy; as well as elite specialists such as presidents, CEOs, and experts working in environmental institutions, whether governmental or private, within the country, and this is according to the approved conditions, regulations, and provisions in this field.

It is scheduled that the Blue Residency will be granted in the first phase by nomination based on the recommendation of the competent authorities in the country, and in a later phase, it will be granted to those who meet the conditions through self-nomination via the approved channels of the Authority.

The Authority provides the Blue Residency service to the targeted categories around the clock, with easy and simplified procedures through the Authority's website and smart application, in accordance with the conditions and regulations that have been approved to ensure the optimal benefit of the targeted groups, as well as to achieve the strategic objectives for which the Blue Residency was launched.
