The United Arab Emirates hosted the World Maritime Day Parallel Event 2025 in Dubai under the theme "Our Ocean - Our Obligation - Our Opportunity." The event was organized by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, in collaboration with the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
This international milestone reaffirmed the UAE's pivotal role in leading the global dialogue on the future of the maritime sector and strengthening its position as a key driver of trade and sustainable development.
The event witnessed the participation of ministers, leading experts, and thought leaders from around the world, who discussed the major challenges facing the shipping and maritime sectors. Sessions focused on core issues, including decarbonization of the shipping industry, promoting environmental sustainability, and enhancing international technical cooperation to foster innovative solutions to shared challenges.
The selection of the UAE to host this global event reflects the international community's confidence in its ability to provide a unifying platform that contributes to shaping strategic responses to maritime issues. It also highlights the UAE's growing role as a global hub for trade and maritime navigation, and a launchpad for pioneering initiatives that strike a balance between economic growth and environmental protection.
The UAE's hosting of the event embodied its deep commitment to the principles of "We the UAE 2031" Vision and UAE Centennial 2071, both aimed at building a diversified and sustainable economy and reinforcing the country's role as a bridge for international cooperation.
