The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has launched the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Research Progra collaboration with the National Committee for Sustainable Development Goals. The launch took place during an event that brought together representatives from governmental and academic bodies, including H.E. Abdullah Nasser Lootah, and H.E. Prof. Ahmed Ali Al Raeesi.

The program represents a practical step to enhance the role of higher education institutions in supporting the global 2030 Agenda through evidence-based scientific research and the development of realistic solutions for issues related to climate, energy, environment, and development.

During the event, Abdullah Lootah presented a clear vision for the program's role, asserting that it represents a national model for integration between the government and the university. He emphasized that it strengthens the nation's capacity to translate scientific knowledge into policies and initiatives, thereby supporting the UAE's position as a hub for sustainable knowledge. He also stressed the importance of empowering youth and researchers to become partners in formulating solutions that serve society and support the achievement of the SDGs.

Prof. Ahmed Ali Al Raeesi, noted that the program marks a new milestone in the university's research journey, reflecting its commitment to integrating the concept of sustainability into education and scientific research. He added that it empowers students to produce applied knowledge that addresses contemporary challenges, from climate change to clean energy. He affirmed that effective partnerships between academic institutions and government entities have become an essential component of building a national research system that supports development.

The program focuses on developing applied scientific research, enhancing students' skills in analysis and formulating sustainable solutions, and activating institutional partnerships that help translate research findings into implementable initiatives. The collaboration between the National Committee and the UAEU is a practical embodiment of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), supporting the cultivation of a generation of researchers capable of contributing to the development of knowledge-based national policies and solidifying the UAE's status as a center for innovation and sustainability.
