The Higher Colleges of Technology has introduced the
"Outbound Industry Sabbatical Leave" initiative for faculty members, reflecting
its focus on applied education and commitment to enhancing academic expertise
in line with evolving labor market trends and employment needs. HCT seeks to
attract educators with both teaching experience and relevant professional
expertise, enabling them to effectively teach applied sciences-fields that
inherently depend on applying knowledge to solve challenges and drive
innovation and applied research. The integration of practical expertise
strengthens academic performance, ultimately benefiting students and enhancing
their preparedness for the job market.
Last summer, around 29 faculty members benefited from this
initiative, collaborating with local and international institutions across
various business sectors. They engaged in training programs and explored the
latest developments and applications in their respective fields within the
labor market. This experience has broadened their knowledge and practical
skills, enhanced their teaching and making them more attuned to current
realities, while equipping them with relevant knowledge and applied techniques.
This initiative is in line with HCT's ambitious vision to lead the applied education space. We encourage faculty to take advantage of this opportunity, which can be undertaken during their working periods as part of their job responsibilities. The "Outbound Industry Sabbatical Leave" lasts approximately one month. Participants have reported positive and inspiring experiences, considering the sabbatical a valuable enhancement to their roles at HCT. These experiences will undoubtedly have a positive impact on their students, especially in helping them apply and implement innovative projects and ideas.
