The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has launched a national cybersecurity awareness campaign aimed at raising public awareness about cybersecurity risks and promoting safe digital practices. The campaign seeks to educate individuals, businesses, and institutions on preventing cyber threats and promote trust in digital transformation by showcasing government leadership in cybersecurity.
The campaign comes as part of the CBUAE's efforts to enhance cybersecurity awareness and is also part of a joint initiative with GCC central banks to combat cyber fraud (#StayAlert #TogetherForGCCFinancialSecurity #CentralBankUAE).
The campaign includes publishing posts on the Central Bank's social media platforms, complemented by activities designed to reinforce the importance of cybersecurity. Key topics includes maintaining financial integrity in today's digital age, identifying warning signs, protecting financial data, and helping community members indentify and detect fraudulent messages.
The campaign includes a series of weekly cybersecurity quizzes on Instagram designed to measure public's awareness and their basic knowledge, helping users better understand and retain information compared to simple text-based content. It also features quick surveys on internet and mobile usage habits, along with interactive stories that test users' knowledge of strong passwords and others cybersecurity practices.
in addition, it includes awareness publications about fraudulent and suspicious messages related to promotional offers and investments opportunities through unlicensed platforms, emphasising the importance of verifying the authenticity of such messages and avoiding dealings with unlicensed companies.
